Subway sandwiches and a confidential police informant took center stage today at a court hearing on corruption charges filed against the former Romulus police chief, his wife and five Romulus police officers.
Both a Subway manager and a confidential informant testified receipts submitted into evidence weren't accurate.
Mahmoud Farha, manager of the Subway on Goddard Road in Romulus, testified he printed preliminary receipts but collected a different amount of money for sandwiches for officers. Farha testified his uncle, who ow
ns the store, told him to give 50% discounts to police officers and anyone else who worked for the department, 40% discounts to firefighters and 10% to EMS workers.
